Dallas: Mary's Finds
Reading a post by Christopher Wynn over at the Dallas Morning News shopping blog and he's got me so intrigued by this new spot, Mary's Finds, near the Dallas Design District. The owner, Mary Padian, was an assistant editor at Architectural Digest and now that she's back home in Dallas, she's using her keen eye to create a collection of gently used home decor and furniture finds that are reasonably priced and just itching for a coat of paint or some new upholstery. On deadline this week and next so when I'll make it over, I have no idea. Of course, this is just the type of thing that gets a pesky case of writing procrastination started.

Dallas: CASAMIDY
The last time I was in San Miguel - I'm heartbroken over the span of time that's passed since I've been to my beloved Mexico - I was walking up Pila Seca and came upon the CASAMIDY showroom. I knocked, Jorge and his two dogs answered, and I was welcomed in to look at all the things he and his French wife, Anne-Marie, were working on.
I adore all their work, so clean but beautifully detailed with nods to Moorish and Mexican design.
I didn't buy anything then - the shipping charges would have been equal to the chair I wanted so badly - and have regretted it since. But now I'm happy to tell you that William-Christopher Design on Henderson Avenue now carries a selection of CASAMIDY tables like the ones above. I haven't been in yet, but when I drove by and I spotted them in the window, I got giddy.

Houston: 310 Rosemont
A couple of weeks ago I was in Houston when I stopped in 310 Rosemont in the River Oaks Shopping Center. When I posted about them last month I said that I loved the orange damask wallpaper in the dressing rooms. When I walked in to try on a blouse, a closer peek revealed this cheeky pattern.
