Feather Your Nest

Kimberly Schlegel Whitman is at it again, creating something fun and fabulous with her new speaker series, Feather Your Nest. Today was the inaugural lunch at The Ritz Carlton in Dallas and the wonderfully funny Hutton Wilkinson spoke to a group of 100 ladies about working with the legendary designer Tony Duquette. Wilkinson, above right with Mr. Duquette, was funny, warm, and told great stories about Duquette and his over-the-top creative style that defines more is more.
Maybe I've been out of the loop, but I had no idea that Baker did reproductions of TD furniture. Aren't these pieces fabulous?

All the lunch are held at The Ritz in Dallas and the next event on March 22 will feature Pamela Fiori, the editor-in-chief of Town and Country. You can go to the link above to reserve your seat.

Aguila Azteca Boxing Gym

I'm about to let you in on the best kept workout secret in Dallas. I live in East Dallas and for several years I've noticed a boxing gym on Columbia Avenue. Tons of teenage boys and girls jumping rope, throwing punches outside. A few months ago I finally walked in and asked if they gave adult lessons. Carlos Castillo, the coach there, said yes, but for a donation. Aguila Azteca is a non-profit that gets kids involved in Golden Gloves competition, teaches inner-city low-income kids about sportsmanship, keeping their grades up. For $20 you pop in for an hour or hour and a half and Coach Carlos gives one-on-one training - intense training. i barely made it through the first few workouts - and the money goes towards the kids boxing program. Every other lesson is free so you basically get a 60 or 90 minute private training session for $10. I know, right. Deal of the decade. 5420 Columbia Avenue, 214.282.7784.

The Comeback: clogs

Clogs. Platformed with wood soles are a huge trend for spring and we can all thank Karl Lagerfeld for this. Since he showed them last fall in his spring collection for Chanel they are popping up everywhere. These are from Stuart Weitzman and will be in store soon.

Leontine Linens

One of my favorite gifts this Christmas - thank you, Heather - was this Betsy jewelry roll from Leontine Linens. It's the absolute perfect size for travel, but I'm currently keeping a few things it in now even though I'm not plane hopping.
At the end of the month I'm taking a trip to New Orleans with my friend Brooke who is a monogram addict so we'll surely stop in the Leontine flagship on Magazine Street.

My Square Meal

Ashley Leake and I carpool together, as we live right down the street from each other and our kids are at the same school. She's co-created My Square Meal lunch kits and gave one to my son for Christmas. The oil cloth sack velcros shut and you can have them personalized. The plastic insert is a compartmentalized one-piece so you can add a variety of food and not have to deal with tons of wasteful plastic baggies. Genius.
