My friend Aimee is a sucker for a foot massage, a hard-core, intense massage that gets all the kinks out. Tonight she took me to her favorite spot in Richardson, Foot Joy, which is now my favorite place of all time to get a rub down. It's certainly not a fancy schmancy spa, but that's kind of the appeal. That and that it's family-owned (read: it's not shady) and for $30 you get a deep tissue reflexology foot rub for 45 minutes topped off by a 15 minute back rub. You can bring wine (we did), a dvd to watch on the flat screen (we didn't), or just fall asleep while you're being worked on (we did).
I'm a lamp freak. More specifically an Arteriors lamp freak. The Dallas design company is having a warehouse sale January 15-17 from 8-5 pm. Thousands of pieces will be up to 80 percent off original prices. 4430 Simonton, Dallas.
Love the design of these coffee tins from Tyler, Texas-based City Coffee. Ray and Sandy Johnson have been roasting coffee daily for the past 10 years in their East Texas headquarters and these nostalgic cans are just a small part of their huge collection.
The first thing I do every time I land in Houston is head straight to Crave Cupcakes for a cinnamon and sugar dusted cupcake and a hot Earl Grey with cream. It's one of my favorite things to do - aside from spend money at a bientot - and the Valentine's Day versions (flavors this year are strawberry with strawberry frosting, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate mousse with dark choc frosting) are available Feb 10-14. A box of four is a pleasantly priced $13. Photos by Julie Soefer
